If you are visiting Hochigai Shrine in Sakai, there is a small soba restaurant right at the entrance that is worth a stop.
Sakai Monzen Soba is a traditional Japanese soba shop located just steps away from the shrine gate. It’s a perfect place to rest and enjoy a simple meal after visiting the shrine.
A Soba Restaurant at the Entrance of Hochigai Shrine

I ordered “Sakai Sunaha”, a local-style soba dish.

Enjoying “Sakai Sunaha” Soba.

The soba noodles were light and easy to eat, and the shrimp tempura was especially impressive — crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Everything tasted fresh and carefully prepared.
The portion size is on the smaller side, so if you have a big appetite, you could easily enjoy two bowls without feeling too full.
The price was 1,000 yen, which felt reasonable for the location and quality.

When I visited, I was the only customer, so the restaurant was very quiet and peaceful.
From my seat, I could see the entrance of Hochigai Shrine, which made the experience feel special and relaxing. It’s a great place if you want to enjoy a calm moment away from the crowds.
A Perfect Stop During Your Shrine Visit

Sakai Monzen Soba is not a flashy restaurant, but that’s part of its charm.
If you are exploring Sakai or visiting Hochigai Shrine, this soba shop is a lovely place for a quiet, satisfying meal.
