A Peaceful Shrine with Deep History

Hochigai Shrine has long been worshipped as a place to ward off bad directions and negative energy.
The grounds are calm and well maintained, making it a peaceful stop during a walk around Sakai.

From inside the shrine, you can see Tadeiyama Kofun, also known as the Mausoleum of Emperor Hanzei, one of the ancient burial mounds that represent Sakai’s deep history.

Omikuji and Goshuin Experience

I drew my omikuji at the designated area within the shrine grounds and received Chu-kichi, which is considered a moderate but positive fortune in Japan.

I drew a Chu-kichi (middle blessing), which said: ‘Leave things to fate and do not worry too much.’

I also received a written goshuin during my visit.
Please note that handwritten goshuin are only available on certain days, so checking the official website or calling the shrine beforehand is highly recommended.
